History of Longines

Longines is a watch company based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. It was established by Auguste Agassiz in 1832 and it is currently owned by the Swatch Group.

Longines watches have been a landmark of the industry since its founding in 1832 in Saint-Imier, and offer a wide variety of watches for men and ladies alike including automatic, automatic chronograph, quartz, GMT, and moon phase mechanisms.

Longines presents elegant ladies watches manufactured with 18K solid gold and the highest grade of diamonds for a true statement of elegance and refinement. With a varied selection and a commitment to craftsmanship and precision, Longines has made its mark in the world for the better part of two centuries.

The Longines Elegant Collection, models launched in 2014 which perfectly depicts the simplicity and oversimplification essential to the brand. Equipped with mechanical movements, they are available in three sizes and offer a wide range of dials, each presenting its own definition of elegance.

On the strength of its rich history, Longines presents the Longines Avigation Oversize Crown model, a watch in the brand’s line of special aviation timepieces created to meet the needs of pilots. This creation, fitted with a mechanical, self-winding movement, is available in three versions, all in steel.

Colourful models are added to the HydroConquest collection of diving watches par excellence. The screw-in case back and crown and the lateral protection for the crown ensure water resistance. In order to ensure maximum safety while driving, these models are fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel in red, black or blue, and the hands are coated with Super-LumiNova to provide easy reading under all conditions. The watch is fitted with a bracelet with a double safety folding clasp and a special diving extension.

Longines presents the new Conquest Classic collection, which is part of the line of figures with a classical beauty to which Longines owes its worldwide reputation and success.

Longines presents the Longines Master Collection Retrograde, timepieces that put the finishing touch to a range devoted to watchmaking tradition. Two versions of a self-winding movement equipped with retrograde functions are specially developed for these watches.

As global trends show a repeated choice for mechanical movements, Longines introduces a collection intended to continue its long watchmaking tradition. The Longines Master Collection is formed entirely of models with mechanical movements, most of which are self-winding.

Longines produces the Longines evidenza collection of barrel-shaped watches which manifest the statement of elegance, style and tradition and the Longines DolceVita collection, a line implying contemporary aesthetics which matches with great success.
